Thermal Remediation® Process

Temperature - Bed Bugs

Heat treatments can be used to treat and control bed bugs in A whole structure, an apartment unit, room, or a portion of a room. A compartment, container or storage unit containing furniture and possessions. It can be used safely in sensitive accounts including daycares, long term care facilities, hospitals, hotels/motels, apartments and single family homes.

The Thermal Remediation® target temperature during treatment is between 120-135°F, the temperature necessary for heat to penetrate bed bug harborages. This safe, effective, and environmentally friendly process uses dry heat to kill the entire life cycle of bed bugs, while reducing the application of insecticides.

With the only equipment designed specifically for the application of heat to kill bed bugs, our highly effective process relies on three main keys to a successful treatment:

Equipment for Heat Treatments

Apply Heat

Electric bed bug heaters are placed within the space; introducing and recirculating heated air with a target temperature not to exceed 135°F for the controlled application of heat.

Monitor

Temperatures are monitored in real time from a remote location using wireless sensors to ensure lethal temperatures are reached without damaging the space and its contents.

Move Air

High temperature fans move heated air throughout the space to reach insects in cracks and crevices or high infestation zones.

Heat treatments typically have a higher tolerance for cluttered environments than traditional pesticide applications. This is often the case in smaller apartments. When conducting whole room heat treatments, our equipment has the capacity to raise and hold the temperature in the treated area to a bed bug lethal level. Through the use of wireless, remote heat sensors, bed bug harborage areas are raised to a lethal temperature and held for a sufficient period of time to kill all bed bugs and its eggs. Because some areas are insulated, or slower to heat, sensors are always placed in hard-to-heat areas that ensure that the core temperature of the treated item/items reach lethal levels for a sufficient period of time. For whole room heat treatments, the preventive use of insecticides in walls and under carpet edges, prior to treatment, may complement treatment by killing bugs attempting to move away from the heat. Heat has synergistic effects in these cases.

Temperature Sensor System

Female bedbugs can lay up to five eggs a day and 500 during a lifetime, so call the bed bug exterminators, before your small problem becomes a big one.
